For some 5,000 years, acupuncture has been used in the Orient to treat illness and promote well-being. In developing the methods of acupuncture, Chinese doctors learned how to insert needles into the body to balance the body's energy system, through which the life force (Chi) flows. When this energy is stagnant or blocked, many problems can occur. From the viewpoint of modern medicine, the principle action of acupuncture and moxibustion is to regulate the function of the human body and to increase its resistance by enhancing the immune system and the analgesic,
antispasmodic, antishock, and antiparalytic abilities of the body. At the end of the treatment period, it is a common experience to feel relaxed and slightly tired, for acupuncture causes a release within the body of natural, healing and relaxing endorphins.
Many diseases and injuries respond well to acupuncture treatment. The following are just a sample. Call our office if you have any questions about a particular condition.
